The Chronicle of the Priory
by Eadric Wiglafson
AS 41
The Vision -
Lord Thaddeus became the first convert of the Dude in the East, when Crusading to
Pennsic he was struck by a vision. Much to his suprise, upon a roadside field in AEthelmearc stood a
grotto of palm trees and a surf board. By this sign the Dude made known that his Way was needed in the East.
Upon arriving at Pennsic, Lord Thaddeus greeted his fellow crusader Master Magnus with the wonderous
tale of his vision: of St Colin, of chivalry, of surf, of excellence. Magnus was immediately converted to the way of the Dude, and
so founded the Priory of St Colin. .
The Council of Nashua - Having embraced the Way of the Dude, Master Magnus gathered
more like minded souls to the cause of the Dude. The Council of Nashua was the first gathering
of the Priory, where at Master Magnus assumed the lofty mantle of Hochmeister of the order and, no doubt foolishly, appointed
Eadric as Priory Bishop and spiritual advisor. It was determined that as 'Hospitallers of the Soul' we would adopt the livery of
the most noble Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, with gules, a cross argent as our heraldry. The Council affirmed these decisions and decreed that the Priory should always
and only act upon the will of God and St Colin the Dude. Dudus Volt!
AS 42
Panteria XII - For the first time a unit of the Priory took the field under the banner and colors of the Dude, with Eadric,
Lord Seaan, Aldwyn, Eydis and Lord Thaddeus standing for the order.. Much good was done upon the field that day. Seaan
became the first martyr of the Priory, suffering a horrible 'death' after falling on his head, only to come 'back to life'
with focus and ferocity that made the opponents of the Priory tremble. After a hard fought day the members of the
Priory began their missionary work, teaching the Way of the Dude and preaching of his martydom.
Midsummers in the Barony of Stonemarche - Upon the green fields of Midsummers Faire in the Barony of
Stonemarche was much honor done by and to the Priory. Eadric and Eydis were made Lord and Lady of the court of their Majesties Gryffith and
Aikaterine, Lady Magdalena was honored with a Millstone of the Barony and Master Magnus had his millstone augmented for martial service
to the Barony. Upon the field of honor, Brother Rudolf and a soon to be Brother, Gwydion, contended for the Goldensword and
acquitted themselves most nobely. Eadric, Eydis, Thaddeus, Moira and Seaan all fought to succeed Master Magnus as
Baron's Champion and Lord Thaddeus as Baronessa's champion. After a challenge from Eadric and a blessing with the 'Tears of Chuck Norris' the members
of the Priory contended most valiantly. Lord Ulfarr was challenged to bring his best weapons form to the field - his response was to bring the
forces of the Priory as he shines in small unit command. At the end of the day Lord Thaddeus won the honor of being Baron Xavier's champion
and Lord Eadric was chosen by Baronessa Maria and her ladies as Baronessa's champion. Also in the court of Xavier and Maria, Hochmeister
Magnus and Bishop Eadric offered the men and women-at-arms of the Priory in wartime service for the Barony in the upcoming Great Northeastern war. In return,
the goodly Baron offered the Priory lands within his Barony for the use and support of the Priory. For such was the Will of the Dude on that day.
The day shall henceforth also be known as the Feast of the Visitation of the Dude, for upon returning home from the Tournament, Bishop Eadric
was greeted by the words of the Dude. The Saint let it be known that he had heard of the founding of the Priory and thought it good and proper.
All the more so, because although his fame and martyrdom were in the far off Kingdom of the West, his earthly roots were in the very lands that
would later become the Barony of Stonemarche. Truly all was as it should be.
Missionary Work - Glenn Linn and Ruantallan War Camps - Following the great successes at Panteria and the Midsummers Faire,
members of the Priory set out to the far corners of the East Kingdom to train for war and spread the ways of Dudeism. Lord Thaddeus
ventured West to the Shire of Glenn Linn where a mighty contingent of warriors had assembled. However, the locals were not receptive to the message
brought by Thaddeus and did most foully use their crossbows upon his person, despite him being unarmed upon the field. Fortunately as his skin was
fortified by sex wax he came through mostly unscathed.
At the same time, into far Nothern lands did Bishop Eadric and Lady Eydis travel, back to lands of Eadric's birth. There in the Barony of Ruantallan did
Eadric and Eydis find some welcome, some combat, and a few ears to bend to the story of St Colin and his Martyrdom. The power of the Dude
was made manifest in glory that day, for upon the field of battle no army aided by a priory member was defeated. Coincidentally, this also marked the first
battles with followers of the Dude on opposite sides.
With their mission work at an end, the Priory members returned home to their lands in Stonemarche and assembled for the war to come.
Great Northeastern War XXI - At the Great North Eastern War, the noble Tiberius presented the Priory with its first War Banner, resplendent with the Dude in Glory. With war imminent and the side of Stonemarche greatly outnumberd, members of the Priory went forth to sway the hearts of the misguided foes. Lord Ulfarr and Lord Seaan went forth with largesse as their weapon of conversion, while Eydis earned the epithet 'the evangelist' for attempting conversions through the word of the Dude alone. Alas, the adversaries' hearts were as stone. However, before the battle could be joined, upon the feast of St Cyprian, a peace accord was reached between the representatives of Stonemarche and Malagentia. With War thus averted the goodly assemblage of men and women of arms spent the day striving for the love of Deeds and in preparation for the upcoming Pennsic War. During a hard fought battle in the woods, Bishop Eadric happened upon a wounded Aldywn, who had been viciously crippled by an opponent and left stranded and alone. With barely a word, the good Bishop mercifully dispatched Aldwyn, freeing him to return to the battle restored in body, and thus creatinging the second Priory martyr.
